A Visit With Shakti

“Shakti, supreme goddess of India, source of all energy that embraces the entire universe, dances her way into our lives…”  From Daughter’s of the Moon Tarot Book.

While on the outside I may look like a domesticated mother, inside a creative fire burns, fueling an ecstatic hunger to express.  Dance.  Sing.  Write.  Just last week I was buying milk at the store when the heat rose so fast I stumbled.  My sacred witness noticed, “Wow, wild heat.”  Small mind jumped in, “Yes.  Crazy heat.  Crazy.”  Sacred witness intervened, “Reframe crazy.  Go back to wild.”  In the distance a strong female spirit shouted, “Yes, wild!  Follow wild!”

I breathed in wild, paid for milk, discovered scratch paper, and parked outside my daughter’s Hip-Hop class.

Pen to paper I embraced wild and found the origins from dance class earlier that day.  There familiar moves occupied my mind so that a swirling current from my hips was free to roam inside my belly, travel up my spine and enter the back door of my heart stirring love.  As if the Gods answered “Yes!”, Michael Franti’s song arrived, “Touch us with the morning sun, when we feel impossible, show us what is possible.  Teach us love invincible.”  I joined Michael in full voice and the current snaked inside my throat to the center between my eyes.

I could not find the bottom of my urge to express so instead I rode the edge higher until I crossed over and landed back inside myself.

I breathed in a moment of peace.

Almost immediately a dog barked in thought, “I don’t know how to reconcile this creative hunger with the mom who sits waiting in her hybrid car for her daughter.”

The strong woman spirit, now closer, responded,  “You don’t have to know.  Just trust.”

Pen lifted from paper as my daughter knocked on the car window.  Class was over.
