Down, down, down

My 12 year old has been down with the flu since Monday.  It was a bad one with high fever, scary cough.  It reminded me of the early days of mothering, where the world stops and we hibernate at home tending the our little ones.

Five days later and she’s still home, almost better.  She’s ready to move out of hiberation and now I am down in bed with aches and fever.  Nothing to do but surrender to it.  In the middle of the night I rode a rollercoaster of heat.  I took homeopathy, Belladonna, and though I don’t know much about the remedy, at the height of heat in my half dreaming, I kept hearing a discussion about letting the feminine burn it all away.  That helped me say yes to the peak of the heat, and while there is no denying it was uncomfortable, it was also strangely ecstatic.

Here’s hoping that healing is looking a little more gentle in your world.
